On the preparation day, the plan for the design and construction of the portal was finalised. The tent was erected and the tree trunks prepared.


I discussed the plan with my previous contact, the Class 1 teacher, and asked her to help with pitching the introductory story to capture the children's interest and at a suitable level for their skills in English. The story incorporated the example woodcarving I selected in the UK.

According to the plan, after telling the story, the children would draw the two animals that they would subsequently merge into one.
